Hardware companion
Connected fitness, smart home, climate hardware, biotech wearables. BLE pairing, OTA firmware update flow, real-time telemetry charts, account linking with Shopify or Stripe.
Native iOS, Android, and React Native apps for SF brands — companion apps for hardware-DTC, content apps for creator-tools, and SaaS-adjacent commerce experiences. CCPA-aware from day one.
Mobile app work in SF skews toward companion apps for connected products and content apps for creator-tools brands. Bluetooth Low Energy, HealthKit, HomeKit, custom telemetry pipelines, and the OTA firmware-update orchestration that turns a piece of hardware into a software product. CCPA-aware data handling from day one because California is the regulatory ground floor and most SF brands eventually serve the EU on top. We work native (Swift / Kotlin) when the hardware demands it, React Native when the surface area allows, and rarely Flutter for SF clients (less common in the local engineering culture).

Mobile-first companion to a desktop creator tool. Real-time sync, offline-first content edits, file uploads, in-app purchases for subscription tiers.
B2B SaaS launching consumer mobile wings. Stripe Connect for multi-party billing, push notifications driving session frequency, deep-linking from web.
HealthKit-backed apps for SF biotech consumer offshoots. HIPAA-eligible data flow, audit logging, and the regulatory documentation that keeps the App Store reviewer comfortable.
SF mobile work runs out of San Francisco, the East Bay, and down the Peninsula with quarterly in-person sessions for app store milestones. App Store + Play Store submission management, beta cohort orchestration via TestFlight and internal Play tracks, and crash-free SLAs targeting 99.5%+ on all production builds. Pacific Time coverage Mon–Fri 9–6.
Decision matrix: hardware companion with BLE / HealthKit-heavy work goes native (Swift + Kotlin). Cross-platform consumer apps with a 60%+ shared screen budget go React Native. We assess in the 2-week discovery sprint and document the trade-offs in writing before kickoff.
CCPA + CPRA require an in-app data deletion path, a "do not sell or share my personal information" toggle, and an audit trail for data access requests. We architect the privacy plumbing into the data layer rather than bolt it on later, which saves engineering cost when the GDPR equivalent is added for European launches.
Submission, App Store Connect setup, TestFlight beta cohorts, Play Console internal/closed/open testing tracks, App Store Optimization, screenshot generation, and the privacy-label work both stores require. We don't build apps and hand off the submission — we ship through to "available on the store."
For hardware launches, yes — the engineering lead is on-site in SF for the 48-hour launch window with the firmware team. For pure-software launches, remote with same-PT working hours and TestFlight cohort monitoring runs in real time during the rollout.
14–20 weeks for a React Native build with shared screens; 16–22 weeks for a native companion app with BLE + telemetry; 18–26 weeks when HealthKit + HIPAA-eligible storage is in scope. Beta-cohort phases add another 4–6 weeks before public release on average.
